LOTD and Review:Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick-Irish Rose

Never in my life have I been a fan of matte lipsticks, just because of the reason that I have super dry lips.L However I just love that matte look on lips which is perfect for office and also I feel it gives out the exact shade of the lipstick much better than the moisturizing ones. I keep drooling at those lovely matte lipsticks and finally decided to try one from the Colorbar Velvet Matte range. The shade Irish Rose was my pick and it is a beautiful natural pink which is a daily wear kind of shade.

Claims: For a rich lip colour with a creamy shine, the Velvett Matte Lipstick, available in 45 stunning shades infuse the lips with vibrancy. Its unique 2-in-1 formulation gives the lips a creamy, yet matte finish. A one of a kind product in India, it has super softening agents that give the lips a soft and supple appearance while keep them nourished with Vitamin E. Staying on up to 5 hours on application, the Velvett Matte Lipstick can be further accentuated with lip gloss and lip liner.

Price: Rs 225

I love the classy round packaging with silver tube and transparent outer cover. Also, the bottom is colored with the exact lipstick shade hence making it easy to spot it among others.

I feel this lipstick lives up to most of its claims. It is creamy yet completely matte. I love how my lips look like after applying this- soft and supple as it claims! Irish rose is a natural pink shade which is decently pigmented; just one swipe gives you smooth n even lips.  I found it perfect for office and look best when applied after lining your lips, though doesn’t look bad either when applied without a liner. Though my lips are dry and chapped at times, I have never felt this lipstick dries out my lips or settle into fine lines. Of course I make sure the lips are exfoliated well before wearing a matte lipstick. I prefer matte lipsticks to remain matte itself on lips and wear it without a lip balm beneath so that the exact shade is visible. And the claim that it lasts for 5 hours is also true to certain extent unless you drink/eat in between

Here is the swatch on my hands:

And here is how it look on my lips:

The only downside I could find is the smell which is quite strong; though nothing bad but I prefer my lipsticks to have no smell or just a faint scent at the max.

Though I have not bought any matte lipsticks in recent past, I have tried few from Lakme, Revlon, Maybelline etc some time back and I must say I found this colorbar one better among the lot. This would remain as one of my favorites especially the shade Irish Rose, though I use it sparingly compared to my moisturizing lipsticks just because am far too lazy to exfoliate my lips regularly!!

Electric Blue Nails-VOV

I am going through a nail paint craze phase nowadays and I pick mostly bright n flashy shades which catch my eye. Here are some pics of my new VOV Nail Paint in Electric Blue!!

I like the shade because it is that perfect blue which I had in my mind and has just the right amount of shimmer but nothing OTT. Shimmer is visible only when you look closely and otherwise it just gives a nice sheen to the nails.

Am liking VOV nail paints mainly because of the wise array of colors available, and quality is decent enough and comparable to higher end brands out there. I like the brush which helps in smooth n even application and with no streaks at all

Am planning to buy more colors and have eyed purple, green and many more. Worth collecting these shades which comes at a reasonable price!!

LIPICE – LipBalm and Sheer Color Review

LIPICE, Japan’s No 1 Lip care brand recently made its entry into the Indian market. The product range includes 4 Lip Balms in flavors like strawberry, orange, lemon & blueberry and 1Lip Conditioner called Sheer Color, Natural.

I got one Lipbalm in Blueberry flavor and a Sheer Color.

LIPICE-Lip Balm in Blueberry Flavor:

Claims: Lips are always soft, fresh and natural…

  • Combination of Lanolin and mineral oil will moisturize lips to prevent drying and chapping.
  • SPF 15 will protect lips against UV rays.

Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Ozokerite, Petrolatum, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Octyl Salicylate, Flavour, Lanolin, Dimethicone, Menthol, Camphor

Price: Rs 120 for 4.3g

My lips are super dry and lipblam is my must have product. LipIce lip blam is one of the best I have tried till date. Moisturizing and gives a cooling effect to lips, also it has SPF. It is not at all waxy/glossy and gets absorbed into lips to keep it moisturized for hours. Since it is not glossy you can use it beneath your favorite lipstick and it will not sheer out the lipstick shade. I really liked the blueberry flavor and the scent is quite mild.

The only drawback is that it is not easily available, seems like they have launched it only in select few cities. I got mine through a company representative and glad that now it is available online.

I would give this a Rating of 4.5 out of 5 and will re-purchase, probably the other flavors.

LIPICE-SHEER COLOR (Natural):

Claims: Magical shade enhances natural beauty of your lips with a tender sheer pink after application

  • Natural beeswax nourishes and regenerates the vitality of lips.
  • Natural olive oil softens and moisturizes each lip’s cell and makes it healthy and fresh.
  • Vitamin A gives fleshy lips, Vitamin C brings freshness to the lips, Vitamin e keeps your lips always soft and smooth.
  • Protect your lips from harmful effects of sunrays.
  • Use to nourish lips and prevent chapped lips, make your lips beautiful without using any other lipstick.

Ingredients:

Isopropyl Palmitate, polybutene, polyethylene, mineral oil, petrolatum, ozokerite, beeswax, microcrystalline wax, octyl methoxycinnamate, olea europaea fruit oil, tocopheryl acetate, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, BHT, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, retinyl palmitate, zea mays seed oil.

Price: Rs 190 for 2.0g

Here is how it looks on my lips:

I absolutely love this product!!Combines the goodness of a lip conditioner and a lip stain -the result is lovely, tinted lips which are smooth and glossy. This clear lip balm changes into a soft natural pink shade once applied into lips along with keeping lips moisturized. The shade goes on sheer when swiped once or twice, and you can layer on if you want a darker shade of pink. This never settles into fine lines or makes your lips dry. It fades away slowly after around 2 hours but still a subtle pink tint stays on lips. The ingredient list is impressive with moisturizing agents, and OMC which gives sun protection. What more you want? Flaunt your pinkish glossy smooth lips out in the sun!!!

My Rating would be 4.5 out of 5. Am deducting 0.5 for the fact that it is not easily available everywhere.

VOV Nail Paint in Fuchsia Pink

I am so much in love with bright colored nail paints nowadays…These are fun and can brighten up your dull outfits. Am slowly building up my collection and here is a Fuchsia Pink Nail Paint from VOV which I got yesterday!!

I love, love this shade, it is much brighter than it appears in these snaps since I clicked them at night. Out in the sun your arms n feet appear fairer with these nail paints on (provided you are not someone with dusky tones) and I was keeping on staring at them today morning while walking on the road! You can rock Fuchsia nails at its best with Black outfits and also with white, deep/coffee brown, navy blue, ivory etc.

I found the VOV nail paints quite decent in quality, dries up pretty fast and stays on for few days without chipping. It gives out the exact shade in 2 coats, brush is good enough for smooth and even application and the numerous sporty shades are worth drooling at!!

So Girls, lift up your mood on that boring day by painting your nails with one of these bright shades, orange, pink, blue, green and many more…GO GET IT AND ROCK!!!

Ingredients list in Cosmetics-To read or not?

As it is I am always curious to go through the ingredient list of cosmetics/skin care products which i buy. There can be many fancy items listed out there especially claiming as “organic” which seems to be a good justification for the higher price you pay for them. But are they really worth or is it just another marketing gimmick?I found an interesting article on a site which is apt to be shared here in this regard and worth a read:
1. Organic/Botanical Ingredients That Don`t Do Anything:
Organic juices of vitis vinifera (white grape) juice, daucus carota sativa (carrot) juice & aloe barbadensis leaf juice, organic botanical extracts of calendula officinalis flower, matricaria chamomilla flower, tilia europea (linden) leaf & rose canina (rosehip) fruit, organic honey, vitis vinifera (grape) seed oil, organic algae extract
2. Typical Moisturizer Ingredients That Are Actually Functional:
glycerin, hyaluronic acid, squalane, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, glyceryl stearate, potassium sorbate, phospholipids, palmitic acid, stearic acid, cetearyl glucoside,
3. Organic/Botanical Ingredients That Could Help Moisturize At The Right Concentration:
organic plant oils of butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) & simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed, organic essential fatty acids of oenothera biennis (evening primrose), linum usitatissimum (linseed) seed & borago officinali (borage) seed, limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil
4. Vitamins That Don`t Do Anything At Low Levels:
tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (vitam:in C), panthenol (vitamin B5), beta carotene

I know many of us fall for anything which claims natural/herbal in most products but the actual fact is that many of these ingredients are literally of no use if it is not available in required concentration. So next time before shelling out your hard earned money for that special, organic product do a little research on the fancy ingredients listed.

BE POSITIVE

Hi All, this is my first post so lemme start on a postive note!
On my way to office today morning I saw this catchy poster of a Malayalam movie Race, in which Mamta Mohandas is one among the lead actors. She looked stunning ; I was admiring the beauty and suddenly one recent news about her struck my mind- shocking enough, Mamta is a cancer survivor! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how confident and pretty she was in that pic despite going through a major dilemma in her life. She battled Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with positive energy & confidence. The whole day I was thinking about her case, and that it can happen to anybody, but what counts the most is the way you deal with the situation. Hats off to Mamta who is a talented actress+singer and she is very stylish- I really like her dress sense and make-up and now I admire her more for the inner beauty and courage she has shown towards winning her life’s battle!!Let us all learn a small lesson about being Positive from this pretty actress…
